Christmas Eve at the Wilson's

Merry Christmas to everyone! Last night was very enjoyable visiting with the Brewster Wilson families and Abe/Steena. Tons of food and I forgot to take pictures. Hopefully Jan got some. Christmas Eve was quiet with just us and Richard. Love it though. Kat asked for New York Style Cheesecake, so its in the oven. Its been so long since I made one, I hope its eatable. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.....we leave for Oregon on Wednesday morning!!! Whoo Hoo!

10 days of Vacation

Yesterday I stayed home. I hadn't slept well the night before and woke up with a headache. I thought about going in, but then remembered that I have sick leave for a reason. USE IT! So, I bummed around the house all day. Enjoyed the day with my kids. Got ready and went to town to get the concession stand ready. The girls suffered their 1st loss of the season. Lost by 2 to ACH. It was a great game. Rhi played amazing defense against their top scorer (who scored 27 pts....most in the 1st half when Kat was guarding her) glad they put Rhi on her for the second half.....but Kat did have a great game too...scored 6 three pointers. It was fun to watch and maybe they needed to lose one game to prepare for future games? I spent most of the boy's game coloring with Nevelyn. Didn't know what I started when I colored one little star on her page....then it was "Here" and she was holding a crayon for me to color some more! Such a cutie.....very independant little girl with lots of fun inside of her. The kids are sleeping in today and then its cleaning house time to get ready for Sunday. I am going to have to get the recipe for Michelle's Maple Bars....oh my....they were delicious!!! Best ever!! I thought about sneaking one home but they were all gone~ Bummer.

So pretty outside....

The sunshine is so nice....it just makes the snow glitter! I should go into writing Christmas cards....Bahaaahaa. I have just Richard and Creston stocking to buy and then I am done with Christmas! Jord is working on finishing up decorating the house for the weekend. Sunday evening, we are having the Wilson Aunts/Uncles and families out for Christmas snacks....no gifts....just food and visiting (Aunt Roni's request to get together and me having mercy on Mom so she didn't have to have a house full of company)....that is my charitable Christmas gift for the year! Actually, I love having the family out....especially at Christmas. I really enjoyed it when Pet asked to use my house to host a Sister's Christmas party one year.....it was alot of fun, but I realized that I needed a bigger house. Jord is going to attempt to get Uncle Zearl.....he is going to shuttle him back and forth, so maybe he will come....we will see. Getting so excited about our upcoming trip. Friday is my last working day for the year 2012!!! Whoo HOO! Vacation time...we will be at the Martin's Wednesday the 26th and then on the coast for three days....then back to Eugene to bring in the New Year. You Oregonians are missing out on some good basketball.....these nieces of yours are doing great and is so much fun to watch! I would love to see Tucker play and Chance and Karley and......

Let it Snow....

Creston and I measured a foot of snow at our house this morning. Suddenly everything in our yard looks pretty! No one can tell that it isn't landscaped! I may like the snow afterall!!! Church yesterday was good, I enjoyed it. We acutally had a quiet day at home and it was WONDERFUL! I made Chicken fajitas with Mexican rice and beans. It was delish. So good to hug Rylan's neck yesterday-looks like Oklahoma is treating him O.K. Jord and I went shopping on Saturday and I managed to get everything done except Creston's stocking. Another long week ahead for us. Three ball games and church....so we won't be eating dinner at home until Friday night. I think its the first time my freezer/refrig have stayed full of food....no one is home to eat it! Jord had to rise and shine at 2am the last two mornings...so beware of the growling bear!

Tis the Season to be....Wiped Out!!

I am finding it hard to be jolly. Its been a long week and its not over yet. The girls continue to win and they play Lake Roosevelt tonight. It should be a good game. Jord is taking me to Wenatchee tomorrow to finish shopping. We haven't eaten one meal at home this week. We had the City Christmas downtown, 3 basketball games and a Christmas concert. I think I'm going to have a little chat with Mr. Hull. They expect the kids to get all their homework done, go to a 6:30 am practice, have 3 games and concert in one week???? Its a bit much if you ask me. Kat has been sick for a month and can't seem to kick it.....she just keeps on going. On the bright side of life......Rylan comes home tonight! Excited to see him and check to see if he has an accent. Hee Hee. It was a fantastic concert last night.....very proud of all our kids. The highschool band was incredible, but then so were the little kids.

Last night was a success with Santa coming to town. Chili and hot cocoa was gone. I laughed because one of the firemen told me he had been waiting a whole year to eat my chili.....I told him I would give his wife the recipe and he kind of made a funny face???? Apparently the wifey is not such a good cook? Nevelyn did so good....she got right up on Santa's lap. Hope Gideon posts some pic's.

Santa is Coming To Town

Santa comes tonight to the City of Pateros. I made a huge batch of chili to serve and 6 dozen cookies. We have a busy week ahead of us as usual. Christmas concert and 3 games....need I say more. I was working the concession on Saturday and decided to try and cut my thumb off. Mr Hull was having a fit....trying to find bandages in a hurry and me standing there with a towel wrapped around my thumb. Very sore....have you ever tried to pull up your pants without using your thumb???? Not an easy task. Kat is home sick today. Her cold has moved into her left eye and her eye/cheek are swollen. Got a card from Aunt Charlotte today and she writes that some sweet girl that goes to church with her told her about a cute guy named Creston....Aunt Charlotte asked if his last name was Wilson? She said....yes...Aunt Charlotte said she had to brag that it was her Great Nephew....Other than that....life is boring.

Oldies but Goodies

We missed church last night. Both kids went to bed at 7 with bad headaches and I was having stomach issues. I will be glad when all the sickies get out of our house, but then you get exposed to everything at ball games. I was going through some old pictures and had to post a few of my favorites.

Busy Week....

Girls won last night against Omak. They played much better, but still a little sloppy at times. They are still working out the bugs. Good thing is...the top 6 girls all are pretty even with scoring, I think it makes a more balanced team. Nevelyn was a hoot! Loved watching her clap for the girls with a big grin on her face. Kat is extremely sore this morning. She hit the floor a dozen times in the first half....hope she loosens up before playing LibertyBell tonight. Janice called yesterday and Mya has her first tooth! I remember Reese cutting his teeth early, but it still seems way early for her to be cutting a tooth. Got to love on Jaxson too last night....what a cutie! Its raining here today, I have a feeling we will be driving in snow as we head to LibertyBell tonight.

FRIDAY!!!

What a long week. I have had a late night every night but tonight. Jord and the kids have been taking care of themselves for dinner and I've been dragging in around 8 each night. Good thing is....Jord is finally feeling some better....Richard on the other hand is still feeling rough. I ran dinner over to him last night between meetings. I won't go in....just knock and leave it on the doorstep. We are hoping to go Christmas shopping tomorrow in Wenatchee if everyone is well. Our Christmas tree comes in the morning. We are trying out the Ski Program Nobles this year- we will see how it goes. I talked with Cynthia last night and boy does she sound horrible! We visited between her coughing fits and I finally told her I should hang up so she will stop coughing. Sounds like they have had a long 4 weeks of sickness. I have to give a "hats off" to my city worker husband. Our city Christmas lights are the BOMB! I love them!

Bunch of Sickies.....

Jord has been home sick the last two days and yesterday Richard called....he sounded so pitiful.....he was asking if I could go get him some 7-up because he was so sick. I told him I would gladly get him some 7-up and I would leave it on his doorstep. Not going in....I'm already exposed because of Jord, but I don't need an overload!! Going to get the Christmas tree this weekend. Hopefully, we can get the house decorated and ready for the holidays. The weather is starting to get colder and I am thinking it won't be long before I'm wearing something besides a hoodie to work in the morning. I loved Rylan's Facebook post....him wearing his Pateros warm-up shirt! Crazy kid. I am also wondering if Pet got back from California, because everytime I check her blog for an update on her new life it reads....going on a trip to CA. We need updates Pet! We miss you!!!

Whipped

Michael & Janice left this evening to head to Snohomish to see Alan & Lenora. It was very hard to see them go. The babies are so sweet and I got tons of lovin' time in. I held back the tears when they pulled out of the drive, knowing it will be some time before I see them again. Reese never stopped the whole time he was here, busy little guy and so happy. Little Ms Mya is a very content baby who captured all our hearts. We had Mark join us on Thursday and he stayed till today. My kids love having Mark around.....he makes everyone laugh! Hope everyones Thanksgiving was as great as ours.....now its on to Christmas shopping. I am so whipped.....I cooked sun up till sundown, but it was so worth it!

Another Monday

Heard I missed a good meeting yesterday. I woke up with an earache yesterday. I can't remember the last time I actually had an earache, but thought I should stay in from the cold and wet. Sad news from Oklahoma yesterday about Bro Allen Idlett passing away. Such a shock to everyone. I visited with Elizabeth Foote yesterday. When she answered the phone she said "Are you and Jord coming over for Thanksgiving this year? Mama is here and waiting for Jord to play the piano for her." Sis Helen is a sweetie and we always enjoyed our time with her at Thanksgiving. She is almost totally blind now, but still in decent health. Elizabeth said that Rylan had spent a weekend with them not to long ago. She really seemed to enjoy him. The news said we are supposed to get 13 inches of snow on the passes tonight.....I hope the rental that Mike/Janice got has a pair of chains in the back or they may not be able to get over the pass.

Thanksgiving Shopping

Went to Omak last night to do Thanksgiving shopping...Gulp....Breathe....a little more than I planned on spending. I'm going to have company for 4/5 days so a few more items went into the cart than normal. Jord and I planned on going Friday night but changed our minds because of the amount of people that would be out and about. We get cranky these days when we have to navigate around lines of people. Walmart last night only had 2 lanes open???? They have 15 lanes and only 2 open....I was ticked! I almost got on one of the speaker phones and made an annoucement that checkers were needed at the front....pronto....its crazy! Only bright side was Safeway had some good deals and I was able to get my turkey free....so I saved a few bucks. I feel like Rylan. I have been counting the days till our vacation. Kat said last night she can't wait to see Aunt Pet and her new house. I think she kind of misses her? I know I just had a vacation last month, but for some reason my mind is telling me that I need a permanent vacation.....I know that Jan can relate....don't like changes of any kind except when I'm the one making the change!

Wednesday Snack Night???

Still not sure how I feel about the Wednesday snack night after church. My kids love it for the food. I'm just so ready to be home its hard to stay an extra hour after church. Creston laughs at me and tells me that "its only one night a month Mom....you can miss an hour of sleep one night a month!" He is absolutely right! I did have a nice little chat with Sis. Marcy and Aunt Betty. I am going to have to bring something besides dessert next time. My kids read the sign posted at church that the young kids are doing a "semi formal" new year's eve party. I asked them if they wanted to change our dates of when we go to Oregon.....Big NO from both of them! They are really excited about coming to Eugene for a few days and I am too! This weekend will be a cleaning weekend to get ready for the company that is going to descend on my house. I still haven't shopped for groceries so I had better get organized and make my list. You get a free turkey from Safeway if you spend $150.00 dollars.....sounds good to me! Janice sent this pic to me this morning via cell phone. Cuties!

Back to the Ol' Grind

It was so nice to have 4 days off in a row. No, I wasn't home all those four days, but it was nice knowing I didn't have to be at work. We enjoyed Yakima. Jord drove from Olympia to Yakima on Thursday night, I drove the Chrysler with Brandi/Nevelyn/Creston and Lance and we all arrived at the same time. Nice to see my hubby after 5 days. We gave the boys the Chrysler so they could do their own thing and Jord and I went 2nd hand and antique shopping. Well, I went into a couple stores and then took a nap while he shopped. Second hand stores are just not my thing. It was fun anyway....he would return to the car and ask me if I had a good snooze. I never sleep well when Jord is gone, so I was catching up! The Pateros girls did amazing at state. We should've won the first game. It was close. The won the next three games to take 7th place. Uncle Jim/Aunt Connie and Larry/Darlene came to watch Kat play. It was fun. Really enjoyed our littlest passenger....she is such a good traveler. Very impressed and lots of laughter trying to figure out what she was saying! Kat had one day off and then started basketball practice. She slept all the way home from Yakima and stayed awake at home for 30 minutes then slept another 12 hours. She must've been exhausted!

Good Morning!!!

Well, let's see. I've been up since 5:00 because the volleyball team is practicing at 6 am. Jord is gone this week, so it was Mom's turn to get Kat to town before the sun rises. I guess the coach thinks that if he gets these girls up the next two mornings early then they will be ready to play Friday morning at 8am. What do I do with myself for the next 2 hours while I wait to go to work? I just go have breakfast with Dad and Jerry! Don't know if they liked being invaded so early in the morning, but at least I was able to waste 40 minutes.

On To State

Long day for everyone on Saturday....especially Kat. We placed 2nd at Districts and therefore....going to Yakima. The girls were disappointed they lost the 2nd game to Moses Lake Christian. There girls are amazons....I'm hoping they don't all play basketball or we will be in for an interesting season! Pateros played really well. Kat was so tired and sore she could barely walk to the car. She slept for 12 hours and felt more herself on Sunday. Congrats to Rhi!!! Everyone at the volleyball game was talking about how dedicated she was and making it to State was incredible. I personally am ready for Basketball. Jord is going to Olympia for 3 days of training so he will be driving straight to Yakima on Thursday night instead of coming home. I'm bringing the second car filled with Creston, Lance, Brandi and Nevelyn. Should be a fun trip!!!! Hope no one wants anything done from the city this week. It's me and Mike holding down the fort as Joni and Dale are in Florida!

Off to Districts!

Tonight is the first night of Districts for the volleyball team. So, off to Entiat we go. They play tonight at 5:00 and then resume on Saturday starting at 10:00. I went ahead and booked our room in Yakima for state.....I was afraid if I waited there wouldn't be anything left. I can cancelled without penalty if the girls don't make it. I'm a little tired of the rain.....I feel like I live in Seattle or something. It was nice for the first couple days, but after a week of drizzel and grayness...I'm done! I made out my grocery list for Thanksgiving and company week....yikes!!! Going to cost a little bit more than I planned. Very thankful that Jord grew me some potatoes and carrots this year and I will have them through the winter. It really helps. Jord and I are planning our 20th wedding anniversary trip. We are pretty excited about it and hope all goes as planned. We plan on being gone December 27-January 1st....going to spend a couple nights on the Oregon Coast and the rest of the time visiting family. Whoo Hooo....we've been trying to get to Oregon all summer and it never worked out so hopefully this will.

Halloween

This was sent to me this morning so I could see what Reese would be wearing for Halloween. Too Cute!!! I can't wait until I see these guys for Thanksgiving.

Where has October gone?

It doesn't seem possible that October is pretty much gone. It was such a busy month, it just flew by. This weekend was busy as usual. Friday night Creston and I went to Wenatchee to get snow tires for the Honda. Saturday we were up and gone by 6:00 to travel to Snohomish for Aunt Shirley's funeral. Whew....lots of people. Good turn out for Kevin/Cyndi. The only Mathews' family that was there was Richard/Alan and myself. That made me a little sad, but its what is expected out of the Mathews clan. They really didn't click with my Dad or Uncle RJ due to church beliefs. Oh well....the Swezey family turned out and it was great to see everyone. Dad was asking all the younger generation who they belonged too....it was fun watching him mingle. Woke up Sunday with a swollen throat, so I stayed home. I ended up sleeping most of the day. Very unusual for me.....but I guess my body was telling me it needed sleep. Creston stayed with Lance all weekend and helped with the Evan's chores. Congratulations to Rhi on making it to State!!!! So proud of her....Kat has Districts this week so we will see how they do....we may be Yakima bound the second weekend of November.

Girls continue to Win....

Girls have one more home game than to Entiat the 1st weekend of November for Districts....State is 2nd weekend of November in Yakima. Good meeting last night, but I am so tired today. Jord and I have to practice tonight and tomorrow for the funeral. Kevin asked if we wanted to be in front or back of church???? BACK Please!!! Don't know if I will win or not, Kevin really wants us in front. I don't do well with people starring at me, especially when this is my Aunt's funeral. I guess this is one of those times I have to buck up!

Rain, Rain

I get a little nervous when I see snow 1/2 way down Billygoat and it isn't even November. We have to buy winter tires this year, also need to have the breaks checked. So expensive for those two repairs....it makes me want to scream. I have thoroughly enjoyed Bruce & Rama. They are moving onto the Evan's to spend tonight and I believe they are going to leave tomorrow or Friday to head home. They went to Kat's vball game with us last night and it was a lot of fun. Got to see Brandi & Nevelyn there too. Looked for a hotel in Yakima for state. The hotels are pretty full, so I need to make a decision soon or we will sleeping outside in the car. Creston has been home the last two days with a pulled muscle in his shoulder. Yesterday morning, he wasn't able to raise his arms but 1/2 way up so he had to cancel going to Honor Band. Sad, because this is the 4th time he has been chosen and he couldn't go. I think he may have slept on it wrong, but not sure.....just painful. One month until I get to see Janice/Michael/Reese and Mya....so very excited!!!!

Yawn.....

I am so beat today. I stayed up way to late last night visiting with Bro Bruce & Sis Rama. Woke up at 4:45 am to get Jord off to work, cat napped until 6:30 and got the kids up. I was going to stay home but Bruce/Rama said they had plans today and wouldn't be home all day, so I braved it and came to work. It's city budget time and it is so tiring trying to get all the numbers to work. Deadlines are a killer. So, I have had 3 cups of hot tea today (which doesn't help with the drowsiness) I was so cold. The good thing is....Jord and I got to actually slept in a bed last night, we took over Creston room after Alan/Lenora left. Air Beds don't work well with fat people. Bruce/Rama assured us that they would take the air beds and not to give up our room.....like I'm going to let them sleep on the floor! I woke up one night and Jord had rolled off his airbed and was sleeping on the floor right next to mine. We really enjoyed all the company-had lots of good visits and lots of laughter......ate way too much. Bruce & Rama are going to the Salcido's for a visit tonight, so I am not cooking dinner. I told Jord that we could eat leftovers. Jord informed me that it was our 20 anniversary this year and he wants to go to the ocean for a few days in January. I thought the wedding was gorgeous and so many people.....Tag kept telling me before church that he had never seen the church so full. By the way.....I think all the Wilson granddaughters were the prettiest girls at the wedding....loved all the done up hair and curls. Kind of scary to think that in a few years they will be hitched!!! or so we hope?

Manic Monday

I am sending Kat off to Manson for volleyball without any of us there. I have council tonight and Jord and Creston are working on the house getting things ready for company. Creston has to deep clean his room and Jord is working outside. I managed to get 1/2 of the cakes baked for the wedding. Going to finish the rest on Tuesday night. It sounds like we are going to have a church full of visitors this weekend. So much to do and so little time......I know I'm not by myself in this.....I remind myself to breathe and let the world go by. Getting really excited to see the little gremlins from Oregon.

Quad City Herald

Exciting newspaper this week. Creston, Kat, Rhi, Lance and Mikey all got recognized in the paper. My vacation is coming to a close. It has been nice to be at home without a schedule. I still got up the same time every morning, I doubt that will ever change. But, I didn't have to hurry out of my pj's. I have to deep clean the house this weekend to get ready for company. I know everyone is going to have a busy weekend. I think I will run to Omak and pick up the cake stuff and start baking cakes. Very exciting Week

As you all know, I missed my flight to OKC. Jord was thrilled, which is hilarious. We spent a great day in Seattle at Pike Street, world spice man, rose garden at the zoo, and ate lunch at the waterfront. It was a lot of fun....we haven't done anything like that in eon's. The kids were happy that I was here for homecoming (I think that is why Jord was thrilled, because he wouldn't have to chaperone!). We got a heavy frost that killed all the tomatoes and damaged some of the pumpkins, but Jord picked all the squash and pumpkins and they are now on the porch all safe and happy. Hunting season next weekend....I really hope Creston gets a deer this year....I'm hungry for some venison. Jord and I are headed to Wenatchee this morning to piddle around....after all.....its our vacation!

Long Night

It started yesterday morning with a sore throat and steadily got congested throughout the day. Up most of the night. Can't stay home because I have to tie up loose ends at work before leaving on Thursday. I have two days to beat this thing! Can't really stay with Michael and Janice if I'm sick......so lots of OJ and vitamin C and hope for the best. This morning was one of the prettiest mornings we have had in over a month. No smoke....clear blue skies....lots of sunshine and brisk air.

Running....like a chicken with its head cut off!

I'm trying to get all the city stuff done before I leave next week. It's crazy!!! Not a good time for me to be gone for 10 days. Went to W-ville last night and watched Pateros vball win again. Tonight is a home football game so Jord and I will be at the gates taking money and then at the concession stand the last half. Tomorrow Kat actually has a home game then we are off to Wenatchee to grocery shop and pick up a few things for my trip. Sunday is church and moving Richard into his apartment. He is excited to get his own space.....hasn't been bad having him around....of course, I haven't been home a whole lot so it hasn't affected me! I ordered the bling for Petra's cake today. I check one thing off my list and two more things get added. Got told last night that the Pateros Girls Vball team was ranked 2nd in state. Kind of exciting as they are a younger team....only two seniors. I actually had to put on a light jacket this morning......fall is coming.....not sure I am ready for winter.

Sunday

Jord, Richard and I got up early and went to Snohomish to see Alan/Lenora/Kaylee and Alexis. Oh my....what a sweetie. Forgot the camera (shocked) so we didn't get any pictures. She is beautiful and petite and such a good baby. Really enjoyed spending the day with them. We went to Kevin/Cyndi's to see Aunt Shirley before coming home. Sad...she isn't doing good at all and needs lots of prayers. Cyndi and her family is doing all the care giving.....I told Cyndi....good thing she had lots of kids. So far, they have been able to handle it and hope they can continue without outside help. It was good to visit and talk about Mom/Dad & Uncle Jay/Aunt Shirley......lots of memories and sad they are all gone except Aunt Shirley. So glad we went and promised to come back soon. She hasn't left the house in almost 3 months, so her days get very long. On a brighter note....Richard told Jord about a bakery in Sultan (I think). We stopped. They make everything from scratch...even the donuts. The place was packed with a line out the door. You must stop and try a donut next time you go through....it was divine. Yes, I did....I had a donut! So good.....I savored every bite! Jord kept looking at my donut asking if I was almost finished because he was going to eat the rest of it if I didn't hurry up and finish it. Men...

Thought we had it bad.....

Went to Entiat for Kat's vball game last night and by the time I got in the gym I was choked up, coughing and cleared my throat thru the whole game. Had a hard time breathing coming home. Ash was falling from the sky and it is pretty miserable living in Entiat and Wenatchee. I was surprised that the smoke bothered me, but still have a heavy chest this morning and not feeling 100% today. Pateros Volleyball girls have been winning everything....its fun to watch them play. Creston's Cross Country meet was cancelled for Saturday in Wenatchee and don't know if they will try to reschedule. He and Rhi have been running indoors on the treadmill. I heard today that Chelan outdoor sports was practicing in Okanogan due to air quality. I wonder what our football team is going to do.....after this week they have 3 home games in a row.....including homecoming. If our air doesn't clear up, they are talking of closing Pateros Schools. Kat said they are supposed to test the air quality and let the students know. Fun times here in Washington.....I'm ready to head out of this town into fresh air!

Smokey Mountain

You hold your breath when you go outside in Pateros today. It is smokey. Don't like the fact that our mountain is on fire. My brother Jim came over last night to get a load of their stuff out of the barn and to pick up his salsa. He got to sit down for a dinner of Pot Roast, homemade biscuits and fresh tomatoes. It was yummy! Very nice to have both my brothers at the table! Jord is better this week. He is working, but still has a bad headache most of the day- I think its the smoke. Busy week this week as usual. I have to go to Entiat for Vball Thursday and Saturday to Wenatchee for Cross Country, then Sunday we are heading to Snohomish to see Alexis Marie. I really enjoyed the family last weekend, wish we could've spent more time with everyone.....I did really enjoy my little nieces and nephews.

Friday!!!

Jord has been sick all week....I can't remember the last time he actually missed a full week of work for sickness. Not fun stuff....it just hangs on....been a rough week for him. Creston is home sick today. We are supposed to go to Snohomish Sunday morning to spend the day with Alan/Lenora, but at this rate not sure what is going to happen. Creston was in this week's Omak Chronicle- he is the third guy back. There was a picture of him running down the hill in Tonasket Cross Country meet. I tried to snatch it online, but could only get it in tiny form. So, get your magnifying glass......
