Pateros grad accepts the job Jennifer Marshall Herald Staff Writer PATEROS - From a pool of 18 applicants, the city of Pateros has hired Jord Wilson as its new parks department employee. Wilson has more than 20 years of experience in horticulture, landscape design, installation and maintenance. He earned a bachelors degree in environmental design and a masters degree in landscape architecture from the University of Oklahoma. Wilson was selected from a committee consisting of Mayor Gail Howe, two city council members and city superintendent Dale Parks. "Jord is the best man for the position because of his vast amount of landscape maintenance experience, and he understands the direction the city wants to go to be progressive," said Howe. "That is why the committee felt he is the best from the 18 applications we received." Wilson is replacing longtime city employee Parry Hamshaw. He's retiring after more than 13 years maintaining the city's parks. "Parry has been a great asset to the city, as he has always taken our parks on as a personal ownership," Howe said. A graduate of Pateros High School, Wilson and his family lived in Oklahoma for eight years before moving back. His wife, Kerri, is a Brewster native and works as the clerk and treasurer for the city of Pateros. They have two children: Creston, who is a junior at Pateros High School, and Katarina, a freshman. | ||||
